Most of the food at Seafood Mixer leaves in a foil tray. It's a small counter at 1812 Seward Avenue in Clason Point, and people mostly call ahead, pick up and eat at home.

What comes out of the kitchen

The crab legs are the reason to go. Snow crab clusters are packed into foil and the butter sauce goes on until the corn and potatoes are sitting in it. If you're driving more than ten minutes, ask for extra sauce on the side so the legs don't dry out on the way home.

Blue crabs come seasoned by the tray. They take more work than snow crab and more paper towels, but there's more flavour in the shell.

There's also a classic boil tray with shrimp, corn and potatoes, and a fried side of the menu with fried shrimp and fish by the plate.

The sides are half the order

This isn't a boil-only place. Mac & cheese, collard greens and fried fish sit next to the seafood, which makes it an easy family order when not everyone wants to crack shells.

How to order

  • Call: (718) 269-6219. This is the safest option because hours change.
  • Instagram: @seafoodmixer posts specials and party spreads (oysters, crawfish, lobster) before anywhere else.
  • In person: there are only a few seats, so plan on takeout.

Seafood Mixer is still new to Google, with a 4.3★ average from 13 reviews. If you've eaten there, a short honest review on their Google profile helps the next person in the Bronx find it.
