Fisch Franke is the fish house on Domstraße, across from the Museum für Moderne Kunst. Moritz Franke opened the first shop in Frankfurt’s old town in 1920, where Neue Kräme met Schnurgasse, because he thought the city already had enough sausage stalls. The business has been on Domstraße since 1952. The current two-storey room, on the side opposite the museum, opened in 1987 after the old building was cleared for the MMK. Nordsee has run the house since 1970. The card is the Frankfurt set people still come for. Matjes double fillet with housewife sauce and parsley potatoes is €12.95. Cod fillet comes with mustard sauce or drawn butter and salt potatoes at €25.95. Zander sits on horseradish sauce at €23.95, trout blue is €24.95, and fjord salmon with hollandaise, leaf spinach, and salt potatoes is €27.95. Pollock in batter with remoulade and fries is €19.95. Redfish in batter with green sauce is €21.95. The fish counter and the bistro close at 6pm Monday to Friday and at 5pm on Saturday. The restaurant itself is open 9am to 9pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm on Saturday. Sunday and public holidays, including Good Friday, are closed. Tables are by phone on 069 296261.
